Al Hashimi: 5460 students head back to school

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) and the Sharjah Emergency and Crisis and Disaster Management Team, announced that 5,460 students returned to private schools Sunday as part of SPEA’s 2020/2021 plan, which runs according to a programme that follows in-person classes and hybrid education system.

Schools were keen to implement all preventive controls and precautionary requirements set by the SPEA as part of a guide that had been earlier distributed to private schools and parents as students flocked to their schools within specific crossing points and underwent temperature measurements to ensure their safety and the safety of their peers, teaching staff and all workers at schools.

Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the SPEA, said that the Authority was keen to follow up on the students' return to their schools and to ensure that the educational process proceeds in its first school day in an orderly and smooth manner despite field visits that preceded this return, and to ensure that all schools are prepared, in order to ensure the provision an educational and healthy environment befitting the status of the Emirate of Sharjah and its prestigious cultural and scientific position, and that guarantees the safety of all those involved in the educational process.

She added that schools showed great awareness and organisation, as well as parents who contributed to facilitating the process through their commitment to preventive measures and requirements, confirming the continuation of work to create a healthy educational environment while following up the developments of the pandemic.

Al Hashimi stated that nearly 500 members of the teams that had been formed by schools have been trained to deal with the repercussions of the pandemic, and other 500 are being trained through training workshops in both Arabic and English.

The SPEA expects an increase in the number of students wanting to return to school in the coming days.
