SPEA Establishment Law

The Sharjah Private Education Authority was established by Emiri Decree No. 45 of 2018 issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Alqasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah – may Allah protect him. SPEA is the local authority responsible for regulating private education in the emirate. This includes overseeing private educational institutions in Sharjah that provide educational, pedagogical, technical, and vocational training services.

SPEA Specializations

Developing general policies and strategic plans in accordance with approved best practices.

Proposing necessary legislation to regulate and develop private education in the emirate, ensuring compatibility with existing laws.

Supervising and monitoring private education in the emirate, ensuring proper implementation of regulations and legislation.

Granting operating licenses for private educational institutions in the emirate, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Evaluating the performance of private educational institutions, issuing reports on their results, and taking the necessary actions accordingly.

Proposing penalties resulting from violations of the regulations and requirements related to private education and presenting them to the council for approval.

Approving private education fees, curricula, programs, courses, activities, and evaluations.

Approving, accrediting, and granting equivalency to private education certificates in accordance with the applicable legislation.

Establishing and managing private education facilities.

Coordinating and cooperating with the relevant authorities in all matters related to SPEA's objectives and competencies.

Concluding contracts, agreements, memorandums of understanding, and partnerships, subject to Council approval.

Organizing or participating in educational seminars, events, and conferences locally and internationally in coordination with relevant authorities.

Receiving complaints and submitting suggestions related to private education.

Any other competencies assigned to SPEA by the ruler or the council.
